Magnolia Little Gem
This compact form of Magnolia grandiflora grows into a narrow, column-shaped tree which will reach four metres or more in fifteen years.
Its scented, creamy-white flowers, smaller than the common form, are produced in spring and summer from a young age. The smaller leaves are shiny green above and velvety copper beneath.
Uses: Little Gem is a beautiful small specimen tree for the garden or a large decorative container. It also makes a magnificent hedge.
Position: Suitable for most climates. Will thrive in sun or part shade in a fertile, well drained soil but needs protection from strong or salty winds. The flower buds are frost sensitive.
Care: Give an occasional deep soaking in prolonged dry weather and mulch well to retain moisture during the drier months. Fertilise in autumn and in spring.
May be pruned to desired shape and height.
